  America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. Through a network of over 200 food banks and food-rescue programs, we distribute food to 26 million hungry Americans each year, eight million of whom are children.

  • Lutheran Educational Conference of North America - Contains a list of Lutheran Colleges and Universities in the United States and Canada, along with other related information.
     
  • Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) - "Bringing New Hope and New Life" - The LIRS is a broad multi-service and advocacy agency that addresses the needs and rights of uprooted people at local, regional, national and international levels.
     
  • Lutheran Services in America - An alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and their 280 human service organizations. Lutheran Social Ministry Organizations offer a wide spectrum of services to children and families, to older people and to people with disabilities.

  • American Bible Society - The purpose of the American Bible Society is to provide the Holy Scriptures to every man, woman and child in a language and form each can readily understand, and at a price each can easily afford. This purpose, undertaken without doctrinal note or comment, and without profit, is a cause which all Christians and all churches are urged to support.
     
  • Alternatives for Simple Living - Alternatives is a non-profit organization that equips people of faith to challenge consumerism, live justly and celebrate responsibly. Started in 1973 as a protest against the commercialization of Christmas, our focus is on encouraging celebrations that reflect conscientious ways of living.
     
  • Bread for the World - Bread for the World is a nationwide Christian citizen's movement that seeks justice for the world's hungry people by lobbying our nation's decision makers.
     
  • Daily Devotionals: Web Devotionals Day - Links to over 50 "Daily Devotionals" web sites.
     
  • Global Health Ministries - A resource for Lutheran health care work overseas. GHM's motto is "helping the hands that heal", and that's exactly what we do through the funding of specific projects, recruiting health related personnel, gathering and sending appropriate medical supplies, and supporting the work through prayers and fellowship.
     
  • Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. Volunteers and partner families provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat for Humanity houses. Habitat for Humanity houses are sold to partner families at no profit and with no interest charged. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Habitat for Humanity has built more than 70,000 houses, working in all 50 U.S. states and more than 60 other countries around the world.
     
  • Heifer Project International - Heifer Project animals (and training in their care) offer hungry families around the world a way to feed themselves and become self-reliant.   • Project Equality - Project Equality Inc. is a national program sponsored by religious, non-profit and for-profit organizations, to assist employers to achieve equal employment opportunities for all people.
     
  • World Association for Christian Communication - is an international voluntary, organization established by communicators who wish to give high priority to Christian values in the world's communication and development needs.

  Youth Resources
  • San Diego Youth for Christ - Making a difference, one life at a time. This web site contains a list of local events and local and national resources for young folks.
     
  • The Lutheran Music Program is committed to strengthening and extending the Church's heritage of excellence in music and the arts. As many as 240 youth, grades 8 through 12, come together for one month each summer on a Lutheran College or University campus to grow musically, spiritually, and socially.
     
  • Youth Ministries of the ELCA - Provides resources and programs primarily for early adolescents to young adults (ages 12 through 30). This site describes and highlights the resources and programs that are supported and run by the Youth Ministries of the ELCA.
